Some Closeup Pictures to Make it Easier to Reinstall Components

New Knob Approved by Owner

This a brass knob to go on the cover of the cabinet. Plan to leave it bare so the patina will develop.

Un-stuffing Paper Capacitors

Start with a capacitor with the leads cut off
Put some tape on it to protect the finish

Start gouging each end out with a Xacto knife

Tube Testing and Some More Pictures

 Both 7B7 tubes are weak...

Speaker is in great shape at least physically. We'll see how it performs when the radio is done.

Grill cloth is in good shape but a bit faded were it was exposed to the light. Would be nice to replace to get the color back but I have not found this cloth available...

Some weird peeling on the inside of the speaker grill, need to investigate a bit before deciding what to do.

Bought these to make the pilot light lens.

One last Cowpasture...

This guy is mounted inside the chassis and looked so cute I decided to re-stuff him.

Drill out that one rivet
Tape on to protect the finish

Drill out guts

Stuffed and ends sealed with brown hot glue

Mounted in chassis with brass hardware, leads will be connected when other components are replaced

More work on Electrolytic Cowpastures and Whatnot

So, the title needs some explanation. Many moons ago when working for E-Systems a fellow engineer called large value capacitors "cowpastures" because on the real estate needed by them. Well, the name stuck in me...

Philco had these packaged capacitors for line filtering that needed to be restuffed.

A peek at the grill cloth...
