Getting ready for finish. Cabinet stripped and lightly sanded. I plan to spray on one or two clear lacquer coats followed by selective toned coats. Then finally several finish clear coats. Kind of sneaky how they did it back then. They first seal the wood so that color would not be absorbed because the different woods will absorb color different than others. Then they would add a toner to the lacquer so they can darken selective areas. Areas that are darker are the two triple band features because they would stand out. Another area is inside side areas where the dial is. These areas have butt joints of different woods they wanted to cover up.
Finished with the preset label. I generated the label using an inkjet printer. A few iterations to get the color and size right. I also printed and black and white inverse image on transparency film to help block the light behind the label.
